Tiffany's Clematis shade showcases delicate cream-colored blossoms crafted in confetti, mottled, and striated glass. These blossoms are framed by green striated and granite glass, set against a vibrant background of blue-green twig glass and periwinkle confetti glass with pink, green, and ochre accents. The shade is completed with a border of green granite glass, adding a refined touch to the overall design. Louis C. Tiffany favored the clematis, a native climbing vine that framed one of the fountains at Laurelton Hall. The shade sits upon a catspaw base. Each shade extends gracefully into four catspaw feet resting on a platform, lending the design stability and a whimsical charm. Tiffany’s “catspaws” drew inspiration from the webbed toes of a drake, or male duck, adding a playful yet elegant touch to the classic candlestick form.
