The model Enigma 425 was created in 2003 by the Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama. He presented a concept with shield segments suspended from thin wires that give a light, floating impression. This reinterpretation fit well into Louis Poulsen's product philosophy, as the model combined Japanese grace with Scandinavian minimalism. The name "Enigma" (enigmatic) fits well with the shade segments that seem to float freely around the burning lamp.
